White Booth Wednesday #68

It's once again time for another Wednesday showcase here on the boulevard. Here's this week's featured vehicle.

Vehicle: Mad Propz
Series: 2016 Hot Wheels Air Show
Boulevard rating: 9
How I feel about this release: I love this plane, and I always look forward to seeing new releases of it with cool flashy designs. With that being said, I really like how they decided to combine a checkered design with stars and a stripe. The additional number was a nice touch as well. Now the design isn't the only thing that I like about this one. I also like the colors that were picked. Personally, I think this plane looks great with the combination of white, red, and blue. The red propeller is another one of this release's aspects that contributed to the rating I gave it. I think it was a great idea to make it match the color of the stripe that's on this plane's wings.

So collectors, what would be your rating for this release? Go ahead and let me know down in the comments. As always, happy diecast collecting!

Today on the Boulevard: Nice Chevy Castings From Hot Wheels

Alright collectors, welcome to another edition of Today on the Boulevard. As you all know, Hot Wheels and Chevy have had a long standing partnership. This partnership spans all the way back to the very beginning of Hot Wheels. Now the '67 Camaro is most likely still the most popular casting, but that doesn't mean that the other castings aren't cool as well. So for today's post, I decided to put the spotlight on some of the other nice Chevys from Hot Wheels.

The first car for today, is the '63 Chevy 2. This release is from the 2016 Muscle Mania mainline set, and it ultimately had two color releases. The first one was blue, which is the one featured in this post. And the second one was red. I didn't end up getting the red one, and I know that I should have. But I'm still fine with just having the blue one, especially since I really like the blue that was picked for this release. I feel it's a perfect shade for this Chevy. It's not too dark, and it's not too bright either.

The stripe design created for this release is pretty cool, and I like how they chose to just make it white. White with blue stripes is a color scheme that will work with just about any car, and that's especially true for a muscle car like this one. I also like the additional tampo details that were applied to it's sides. The door handle was given a silver tampo coating, and the Chevy 2 emblem was applied to the quarter panel. I love seeing 1:64 scale diecast cars with these kind of tampo features, as it adds a nice amount of realism.

Chrome 5SPs are the wheels that were utilized for this debuting release. In my opinion, these five spoke wheels will always look good with these old muscle cars.

Up next is the '67 Chevy C10 from the 2017 Hot Wheels Hot Trucks mainline set. One of the things that I always liked about this casting, is how it was designed with a hood cowl. Having this feature lets you know this truck is not messing around. And when the light turns green, it's gone! This release also has a Super Treasure Hunt version, and I was actually able to acquire it at retail.

Now the one in today's post is the regular version, and there's a reason why I decided to showcase the regular instead. Sometimes it seems like the regular gets overshadowed by the Super when it's usually just as good. Most of the times, the regular is only missing the additional stripe design that's applied to the top of the Super. That additional stripe design, is what was not added to this release.

Some of you might have preferred the additional stripe design, but the design is not the main thing that I like about this release. Although, it is a very nice design. The exterior color choice is what I like the most. Metallic purple was chosen, and I think it makes this truck look awesome. Furthermore, purple is one of those colors that isn't used as much as white. So if a model I like is finished in the color, I will instantly add it to my want list.

This release was also given a real-life sponsor decal. Hoosier Tires is the company that's featured, and the decal was placed on the back half just behind the rear wheel arch. Since Hoosier makes racing tires, I'm assuming the designers wanted this release to have the look of being set up for some drag racing. Now if I'm right, then I feel that it should have had a few more decals. Sponsors like Holley, or MSD Ignition would have been a nice touch.

Now the Super Treasure Hunt was given the beautiful RR5SPs, while this regular version was given chrome 5SPs. Although most of you will prefer how this truck looks with the RR wheels, I feel that it looks just as nice with the basic wheels.

The last vehicle for today's post, is '70 Chevy Chevelle. Hot Wheels actually has a few different versions of this car, however, the one being featured today, is the racing version that was released in the 2017 Nightburnerz mainline set. I always thought this version of the '70 Chevelle was awesome. I love how this Chevelle looks with it's exterior racing modifications, and let me not forget about how low it sits. All of these aspects give this casting a true racing appearance. Okay, that's enough about the casting. Let's move onto the release itself.

Like the C10, this release's exterior color is what I like the most about it. For this release, the desigers chose to finish it in matte burnt orange. If you're not new to the boulevard, then you already know how I feel about these finishes. This exterior color made this release a must get. I mean... it's not often that we get a release that's finished in matte burnt orange.

Although it's exterior color is what I like the most, I won't deny the fact that the design created for this release contributed to me getting it. This release features a cool black and yellow stripe design. Now it's worth noting that it wasn't just the sides that got decorated. The design was also applied to the hood, as well as the trunk. This helps to give this car a wild look, and it's a look that I feel is fitting for the kind of casting this is.

This release also features two additional real-life sponsor decals. Goodyear Tires and Hotchkis, are the two companies featured on this release. For those of you that didn't know, Hotchkis is a suspension manufacturer. So these two decals let you know that this car will beat you on cornering. So get ready for me to take first place!

Black MC5s with a chrome rim are the wheels that got picked for this release. I have no issue with this wheel color being used. In fact, I think it's the perfect wheel color to go with colors that were used for this release's exterior.

All in all, these three Chevy release are very nice, and I think they should be in everyone's collection. So do you have an opinion on these particular releases? If so, feel free to let me know down in the comments. Okay, that's all for this edition Today on the Boulevard. Until next time, happy collecting everyone!

White Booth Wednesday #67

It's once again time for another Wednesday showcase here on the boulevard. Here's this week's featured vehicle.

Vehicle: Bone Shaker
Series: 2017 Hot Wheels Mild to Wild
Boulevard rating: 10
How I feel about this release: I think we can all agree that the Bone Shaker is still a very nice Hot Wheels original. And being a hot rod makes it one of the castings that I will always try to acquire. With that being said, let me get to what I like about this release. For me, this release's best aspect is it's design. Since the front of this vehicle has a skull, I feel skull designs are very fitting, and the one created for this release is pretty cool. I think it was a nice touch to make the top of the skull have a flame shape.

So collectors, what would be your rating for this release? Go ahead and let me know down in the comments. As always, happy diecast collecting!

White Booth Wednesday #66

It's once again time for another Wednesday showcase here on the boulevard. Here's this week's featured vehicle.

Vehicle: Gazella GT
Series: 2017 Hot Wheels Showroom
Boulevard rating: 9
How I feel about this release: This is one of those fantasy cars that I wish were real. This casting from Hot Wheels has all the realistic looks of a high-end sports car. So far, this casting has had seven additional releases after this one. And to be honest, the first two debuting colors are the only ones that I'd consider to be realistic. The newer releases have more of a unrealistic appearance. The 2019 X-Racers release is a perfect example of what I mean.

Now with this release in particular, I really like how it was given a great color, as well as a simple stripe along it's sides. The wheels picked for this one, are another one of it's features that contributed to the rating I gave it. In my opinion, split five spoke wheels complement the overall look of this car. I hope Hot Wheels will one day release another one of these with a relatively simple appearance like this one. Until then, this release will be the best one.

So collectors, what would be your rating for this release? Go ahead and let me know down in the comments. As always, happy diecast collecting!

Today on the Boulevard: Wild and Cool Flames

Hello and welcome to another edition of Today on the Boulevard! The Hot Wheels Flames mainline set will always be one of my favorites. These models are perfect for someone like me who loves cool flame paint jobs. And I like seeing all of the different flame designs that are created by the Hot Wheels designers. So for today's post, I'm going to be showcasing my '65 Pontiac GTO from the 2016 Hot Wheels Flames.

Now before I get to the design, I wanted to quickly point out that I like the exterior color choice. I think we can all agree that a cool design could ultimately be ruined by a poor exterior color. Thankfully, that's not the case with this release. In my opinion, the purple chosen for this GTO's exterior, contributed in a big way to it's overall wild and cool appearance.

Now onto the flame design. Along this release's sides, is a flame pattern that was made out of three sections. The first set of flames are along the top half of this GTO's sides. These start out on the the fenders, and then finish just after the rear wheel arch on the quarter panel. The second set of flames, are beneath the first set. These ones start just after the front wheel arch, and stop before the rear wheel arch. The last set of flames, start after the rear wheel arch, and are on the lower half of the quarter panel.

The top of this release was given a design as well, and it's what ultimately helped to make this release wild and cool. Now what I like, is how it wasn't just the front half that got decorated. The back half of this GTO was also decorated. In my opinion, this was a nice touch. The roof is the only section of this release that didn't get flames, which is fine. Like the side design, the top design is also made out of multiple sections. On the front, as well as the back, there are a total of six separated flame sections that make up the overall design on the top of this awesome GTO.

For the design's colors, the decision was made to utilize green and yellow. In my opinion, these colors combine nicely with the purple that was used for it's exterior.

Now even though I think this is a fantastic release, there is one thing I wish they did differently. As you can see, they chose to give this release a yellow window piece. I really think this GTO would have looked better with a clear window piece instead. But this is one of those minor features that I can ignore.

Alright collectors, what are your thoughts on this release? Do you like flame paint jobs as much as I do? If so, do you prefer for the design to just be on the sides, or do you also like when they're placed on the top half of the car as well? Go ahead and let me know your thoughts down in the comments section. Okay everyone, that's all for this edition of Today on the Boulevard. Until next time, thanks for reading and happy collecting!

White Booth Wednesday #65

It's once again time for another Wednesday showcase here on the boulevard. Here's this week's featured vehicle.

Vehicle: Fast Gassin
Series: 2017 Hot Wheels City Works
Boulevard rating: 7
How I feel about this release: When looking at all of the releases of this awesome truck, I noticed something about the designs featured on them. This is currently the only one that features a real-life fuel company, and I love their choice to use Union 76. I think this fuel truck looks great with this company's colors. Now the design isn't the only thing that I like about this particular one. For those of you that didn't know, this release ultimately had a wheel variation, and this is it. The card art shows this release with the DD8s, while this one has chrome 5SPs.

So collectors, what would be your rating for this release? Go ahead and let me know down in the comments. Until next time, happy diecast collecting!

Today on the Boulevard: My Favorite Hot Wheels Toyota Off-Road Truck

Happy New Year diecast collectors! Welcome to 2021's first post. One of the good things about collecting Hot Wheels, is that we get multiple releases of our favorite vehicles. Like me, you're most likely going to have one that you absolutely love. So for today's edition of Today on the Boulevard, I'm going to be featuring my favorite Hot Wheels Toyota Off-Road Truck.

Now don't get me wrong, I will still get and love most releases of a casting that I like, but there are releases that I will prefer over others. And the Falken Tire themed release of the Toyota Off-Road Truck is that preferred release. In my opinion, this livery is very appropriate for this truck, and I feel it made it a great looking model to have.

When you look at pictures of some of the other Falken Tire themed releases from Hot Wheels, you'll notice something neat about this release. The green section of this livery actually covers the entire front end of this truck. With some of the other Falken Tire themed releases, the green doesn't even cover the entire side. The Porsche 934 release with this livery is a perfect example of this.

As you all know, this release also had a Super Treasure Hunt version. But as usual, Diecast BLVD only sought the regular. Besides not caring about special releases, there is actually a specific reason why I wanted this version over the Super. After seeing pictures of the Super Treasure hunt version, I came to the conclusion that the blue on it was too dark. At the time, I felt the blue used for this regular version was much closer to the blue used for the actual Falken Tire livery.

I also like all of the extra real-life aftermarket decals featured on this release. The decals are as follows: Wilwood, K&N, and Sparco. Having them complements the overall appearance of this truck perfectly.

Unless a premium version with a better livery is made, this will always be my favorite release of this truck. So collectors, do you have a favorite release of a casting you like? Feel free to let me know down in the comments section. Alright... that's all for this edition of Today on the Boulevard. Until next time, happy diecast collecting.
