Race Team HQ: RPM Starz

The Origin

Yo! My name's Stafon "Shooting Star" Diwianti, and I'm the owner of RPM Starz. My interest in racing started when I got my first racing game. And I remember how I used to spend hours racing against Annabell, who was my neighbor at the time, in the various multiplayer game modes. A few years later, I ended up joining her go-kart racing team, and that made me become even more interested in racing. Eventually, my parents had to move, so I could no longer join them at the various races. But the fire was already lit, and I continued to have a passion for racing.

The First Star And The Nickname

One morning, I saw an advertisement showing how the 1:64 Scale GT was going to start a new classic car racing series. The advertisement also said that the series was going to be open to anyone who had a qualifying car. So I figured why not go ahead and give it a try, especially since I was already in the process of fixing up my first generation Mazda RX-7.

The build wasn't too hard, and it's all thanks to the experience I gained being a part of Annabell's go-kart team. Ultimately, it took me one year to finish the mechanical stuff as well as the bodywork. The next thing I needed to do was pick a color for it, but choosing a one proved to be somewhat difficult. For some reason, I just couldn't pick a color. So I decided to take a small brake from working on the car, and finding a racing suit became my next priority.

There was a small racing shop not too far from where I lived, and I made that my first stop. Once there, I immediately noticed a huge for sale sign above a stack of yellow racing suits. Supposedly, no one wanted the color, so the shop's owner marked them down. They even decided to include a free racing helmet with the purchase of one. So I knew right away that I had found my suit, and buying it helped me picked a color for the RX-7. After that, I signed up for my first race.

I really wasn't expecting to do well at all, but I ended up being fast enough to finish in second place. After that, I made some adjustments to the RX-7, and that made the car even better, which led to me winning a few races. After my fifth win, an online magazine wrote an article where they referred to me as the "Shooting Star" of the night races, and I decided to take on the name.

Rocky Start At A Higher Level

Years later, I had enough money saved to start a team as well as hire some additional drivers. Now, like most new teams, we didn't finish very well in a lot of the races we entered. However, we were determined to get better. So me and my other drivers spent as much time as possible getting some extra seat time in at our practice track. And as the 2019 season progressed, we started to see some improvements. At first, we were finishing fifth to last, however, we started to consecutively finish in the top ten during the later half of 2019 season. That's when RPM Starz started to get a fan base.

Following Year

Things changed completely during the 2020 season. RPM Starz started winning one race after another. It was at this time that our small, but growing fan base came up with our current slogan: "the team that gets it done!" According to one of our fans on social media, someone at a race we won stood up and shouted that. And as time went on, more of our fans started to shout that when we won. So towards the end of the 2020 season, I decided to make that our official slogan.

Tri-Star Alliance

Rpm Starz is one of the three Tri-Star Alliance members. This is an alliance between us, Red Bell, and Star Ghost. All three teams are the founding members of Union Diecast Racer.

Our Rivals

Red Bell is currently the team we have to beat no matter what! Okay... I guess I need to mention that our rivalry isn't a serious one. You can think of it as two friends playing a multiplayer racing game, and it's us versus the NPCs.

Team Colors And Logo

The team's main color is yellow, and picking it was a no-brainer. As for the logo, I wanted to have one that would depict how far we'd be willing to go just to win the race. And after I had some time to think about it, I came up with an idea to make a gauge showing how we'd be willing to push our engines to the absolute limit. And that led to the creation of the logo that's called "Star Thousand RPM Gauge."

I now welcome you to drool ov... I mean check out the vehicles that are stored in the team's garage.

Being the owner of a successful race team has allowed me to build a nice collection of personal rides, and I've decided to section off a portion of the team's garage to store them. And before you ask, yes, I'm tooting my own horn.

These vehicles aren't stored in the garage like the other ones. They can usually be seen parked in front of the garage doors.
