Looking At: 2021 Hot Wheels Team Transport Box Set - Ford Racing

Hi everyone, welcome to a new edition of Looking At. Recently, I published a two-part My Want List review where I talked about the releases I was able to get from this year's case K. Unfortunately, I'm still missing a few from that case. So, needing to complete my want list, I decided to go check some of my local stores. As daunting as it is, trying to find a specific release can sometimes make you find something you wouldn't have found otherwise. So even though I mostly arrive at empty rows, I choose to never give up. That said, I wasn't find any of the mainlines I was looking for, but I did end up coming across a new premium box set that I wasn't expecting to see.

It might not be the Nissan set with the Skylines, but it's still a great set nonetheless. As you can see from the title, Hot Wheels released a new Ford premium box set. It contains four stunning diecast models that are all Fords, and each one features a beautiful rally style livery. One of the other awesome things about this box set, is that it features a new casting for us to collect.

For the longest time, the '70 Ford Escort RS1600 was the only classic '70s Ford rally car we had from Hot Wheels. Well... now there's a second one. The '78 Ford Escort RS1800 MK2 has finally been immortalized by Hot Wheels. First impressions are everything, and this debut release is making a strong statement with how decorated it is.

Unfortunately, I do have one small issue with this new Ford. And yes, it's trivial. Unlike the MK1 casting, this one does not feature it's side rear view mirrors. Besides that, this is a very nice casting, and it's sure to be a favorite among many in the diecast community. I can't wait to see all of the liveries they choose to put on this casting going forward. And I'm curious to see if it will eventually be placed in the mainline like the older Escort. Of course, I'll have no issue if it isn't. After all, being a premium means that each one of it's releases can be decorated like this one. Alright, now its time to take a look at the older Escort.

I actually have most releases of the RS1600, which is why I'm glad I was able to get this one. Each release of this casting seems to get better and better. I, for one, love all of the design choices that were made for this one. I especially like how it has wheels that aren't gold or chrome, which is a wheel color that's commonly picked for this casting. Having blue wheels, definitely helps to set this one apart from all the other releases. The black hood also contributes to that as well, which is why I feel it was a nice touch.

I also need to put the spotlight on the Ford C-800, since I do like it as much as the other vehicles in this set. Although I still don't completely like the design of the top rack, I'm glad Hot Wheels has this classic Ford truck. It's definitely the perfect hauler for these classic Ford rally cars. Now, it does seem like it was meant to only haul the MK1 one around. Unlike the MK2, which features the Pirelli decal, this C-800 has the Goodyear decal like the MK1. Ultimately, this truck would look great hauling both of the Escorts around. So the tire sponsor doesn't really matter. Okay, let's get to the last vehicle.

The last vehicle in this set, is the mighty Ford Transit Super Van. This was the next one I was excited to see. Most of the time, this casting is used for Pop Culture releases. And in case you haven't noticed, I don't typically get those. There have been a few that I've gotten, but they usually don't make it to my want list. The Gulf themed release, as well as the Rick and Morty themed release, were the only two I releases I had in my collection prior to this one. And to be honest, I only got the latter due to the fact that I decided to get the other premium Rick and Morty vehicles. So the Gulf themed release was the only one I really liked. Of course, that's no long the case now that I have this one.

Due to it's relatively plain appearance, I still kind of want the debut release, however, I have no issue with the ones that I have. At the end of the day, I feel this casting looks fantastic decorated with race team liveries, and it's no lie that this one looks just as good as the Gulf one. So getting the debut release is no longer a priority for me. In fact, I don't need it.

So, the hunt continues for the last case K releases I want. And hopefully, I end up finding some other nice releases along the way too. Randomly finding things like this box set, truly makes diecast hunting fun.

Alright, so have you recently found something other than what you went looking for? Do tell down in the comments section. Well, that's all for this edition of Looking At. Till next time, thanks for reading, and happy collecting. And remember, these are just toys.
