Today on the Bouolevard: Hot Wheels Datsun 620 Finally Found

Welcome diecast collectors, to another edition of Today on the Boulevard! As most of you know, it is sometimes very hard to find a certain Hot Wheels release. In fact, it's this specific reason that makes me sometimes wonder if diecast collecting is even worth it anymore. However, with the mindset of #DatDiecastLife, I end up pressing forward. In doing so, I usually end up finding what I was looking for. And that's the case with the Hot Wheels release being featured today.

Like the title states, I was finally able to get my hands on the matte red Datsun 620 from case K. This 620, appears to be based on an actual shop truck that's owned by JDM Legends. In fact, they even have a sticker of it that's currently available on their website. Based on the pictures I'm seeing, there are some differences between this and the real pickup. I should mention that these differences, in no way detract from how nice this release is.

One of the things that's different, is the JDM Legends decal on the door. Unlike the one on the real truck, this one does not feature the white triangles. I noticed something when looking at the actual decal that's also currently available as a sticker. This decal, seems to be based on the NGK Spark Plugs decal. This could be one of the reasons that made the Hot Wheels designers remove the triangles from the logo. Aside from that, everything else about this decal is spot on.

The next difference, is seen over the rear wheels. This section of the real truck features importation, restoration, and the JDM Legends phone number. Sadly, these details weren't included on this release. The Hot Wheels design team did however, decided to place the Hot Wheels logo on the back half of the bedside panel.

Another difference with this release, has to do with the wheels. Now this difference is totally understandable since this is a basic release after all. The wheels given to this 620, are the Hot Wheels DD8s. The real pickup features all white wheels. Unfortunately, Hot Wheels is not able to make the spokes white on their DD8 wheels. The only way to do that, would be to make the whole wheel white, which would make the tire section of the wheel white as well. If this particular 620 was released as a premium, then maybe it would've been given all white RRS wheels, which would make this release look much closer to the actual truck.

Now then... not everything about this release is different. There are a few other aspects besides the color that are correct. One of those aspects, is the stripes that run along the top half of this model's sides. Another detail that's correct, is the would-be Datsun fender emblem. The last detail on this release that wasn't changed, is seen on the tailgate. Like the real truck, the raised letters are white.

Aside from this being a replica, I personally like this release due to it being matte. I love Hot Wheels vehicles that feature finishes that are different from the norm. Okay readers, how did you feel about this model? Do you also feel like a premium version would've been better? Go ahead and let me know your thoughts down in the comments section. Alright, that's all for Today on the Boulevard. Until next time, happy diecast collecting!

Looking at: 2020 Matchbox Mix 4

Okay collectors, welcome back to the boulevard! In recent times, I was able to scratch some more diecast cars off my want list. And like the title states, those cars are from Matchbox's 2020 mix 4. This case overall featured some very nice diecast models. However... as usual, I didn't get the whole case. If you're new to the boulevard, then you should know that I only get what I like, and I'm not a completest. So with that being said, let's get started with today's feature.

For today's post, I had to start with the car that I wanted the most. The car in question, is the 1971 MGB Coupe, which is debuting this year. Not to bash on Mattel's Hot Wheels brand, but I'm personally glad that Matchbox was the brand to release this classic. Had it been released by Hot Wheels, then it's body might've took on more of a racing appearance. The Fairlady 2000 Hot Wheels casting is a perfect example of this. Now... there's nothing wrong with cars from Hot Wheels being designed that way, it's just great to see a stock looking version of this car.

Though blue is my favorite color, I really like their choice to finish this first release in red. Like a few other colors, red is one of those colors that just works on classics sports cars. Especially when it's the shade of red that was used for this release. I should also mention, that British racing green, and cream are among some of the other colors that I feel, would also make this model look great. As such, I hope to see many more releases of this casting with the aforementioned colors.

Now then, like I mentioned, this releases has a stock appearance, so that means that it doesn't feature any designs. It was however, given front and rear tampo details. The front, was given grill details as well as the MG badge. The front was also given bumper details. The only details missing from the front are head lights, which is fine by me of course. Unlike the front end, the rear of this model was given tail lights. But that's not all! The rear end also features a United Kingdom license plate. I love this detail a lot, as it gives the model an authentic international look. Also applied to the rear are the would-be badges. Those include the MG and B GT badges.

I also like the smaller details that were given to the rear. One of those details, is basically a silver dot, which is the gas cap on the real car. In all honesty they could've left this detail out, but I'm glad they didn't. It's little details like this, that further compete the model for me.

Up next, is the 2015 Jaguar F-Type Coupe. I'm glad Matchbox has this casting in their roster. If not for this one, then the only F-Type from Mattel, would be the Project 7 from their Hot Wheels brand. Don't get me wrong, that casting is great in it's own right, it's just nice to have a coupe version of the F-Type. So far, this is the fourth release of this casting, and it's the second one in my collection. This casting made it's debut back in 2015, which was one year before I decided to start looking at this brand. And I'm glad I did, because if not, I would've been missing out on all kinds of great diecast models like this one.

Though I missed out on the first release, which was black, I am happy with the two that I have. The first one in my collection, is the orange one, which was the second release. The third release, which was a great looking dark green, was sadly only released in the 9 packs. I typically don't get those by the way. Thankfully though, this fourth release was given a fantastic color, which is the main aspect that I like about this release. For this release, the Matchbox team decided to finish it in a fantastic shade of dark blue. The wheels given to it, are the same ones that were used on the last three releases. That isn't a bad thing, as these wheels don't look too bad on this casting, although I do hope they eventually get a new wheel for their basic releases.

As far as details go, this release was given the same details that were applied to the first three releases of this casting. So the front features head lights, while the rear features tail lights and the would-be badges. Also like the first three, this too was given a black tampo coating over the hood vents. This ultimately gives them a somewhat realistic appearance in my opinion.

The next car for today's feature, is the 2018 Dodge Charger. This casting made it's Matchbox debut last year, and I'm happy to see it being used again. In fact, I personally like this second release much better than the first one. And it all has to do with the color. The Matchbox team decided to finish this release's exterior in a beautiful shade of blue. In fact it's color, is what made this the first car that caught my attention on the pegs. Even if you don't typically like blue, you have to admit that this shade of blue made this an excellent model.

Like the first release, this too was given the Matchbox 5 spoke wheels finished in silver. Like I mentioned with the Jaguar, I do think it's time for Matchbox to make a new basic wheel. Look at Hot Wheels for example, in the last few years, they have made a few new basic and premium wheels. Despite how I feel though, and since Matchbox has a limited amount of basic wheels, I don't have a issue with the wheels that are currently being used for this casting.

The front and rear of this model feature some great details that help to liven up this release. The front details include lights, which are always a welcomed sight on any 1:64 scale model. Like the front, the rear also features light details. I also like how the rear features this car's badges. Another cool detail on the rear is the license plate. Looking at it's design, it appears to be based off of Michigan's plate. Though hard to see in my picture, the top section of the plate says Matchbox instead of Michigan.

The next car that I got from this mix, is the 1962 Volkswagen Beetle. Back in 2018 this casting got a retool, and of the retooled models, this is my second one. The first one in my collection was the blue one, which is currently still my favorite. And Although I like that one more than this one, there's no denying how cool this release is. This release is absolutely wild, and I do mean that in a good way. The main aspect that sticks out, is it's exterior color. For this release's exterior, the decision was made to use pink. This color for me, makes this model special in my collection due to the color not being used as much.

Exterior color aside, there is another aspect that further complements it's wild looks. The aspect in question, is the design. For this release's design, I'm going to go ahead and use the phrase ''Two peas in a pod.'' The reason for that, has to do with it being the exact same design that was applied to the recent Matchbox Superfast release of the '59 Volkswagen 23 Microbus. I personally like this because it creates a little two car set. The only thing that's different between the two, is the colors. Sadly, the front and rear of this release weren't given any tampo details.

The last two aspects that I like about this release, are it's wheels and interior color. For the wheels, the Matchbox team decided to use the same disk wheels that were used on the last couple of releases of this casting. This wheel choice is perfectly fine for me. Let's be honest here, when it comes to VW beetles, you can never go wrong with steel wheels. Now then, the reason that I like the interior, is due to it being tan. I don't know about you, but for me, this is a very interesting interior/exterior color scheme. I also feel that it adds to the overall uniqueness of this release.

Then next vehicle from this mix that was checked off my want list, is Jeep Wrangler Rollbar (18#). There is a specific reason that I wanted to get this release. As most of you already know, Matchbox released a variety of Jurassic Park themed vehicles. Sadly... I chose not to get any of them when they were being released. That was a huge mistake, as I ended up regretting that decision. Thankfully though, Matchbox decided to release another Jurassic Park themed Jeep. As such, I decided not to repeat past mistakes.

I must say, that I really like how they were able to re-create this Jeep in 1:64 scale. It's exterior was finished in a tan, that if not exact, is close enough to the one seen in the movie. Now as cool as this release is, there are a few things that I would like to point out. The first of those things, has to do with the design. Since it's been a while since I saw any of these movies, I decided to pull up some pictures to use as a reference. With the red stripes on it's sides, they are supposed to go all the way down. Instead, Matchbox stopped them just before the wheel arches. Another detail that's not quite right, is the size of the number 18. Aside from those two gripes though, all the other details for the most part, are spot on. I also like how this release's sides were given the Jeep logo in yellow, which is accurate to the one seen in the movie.

In terms of front and rear details, this model doesn't feature any. This however is fine by me, as I'm ultimately just happy to finally have a Jurassic Park themed Jeep in my collection. When it comes to the wheels, this model was given their six spokes finished in red. The real Jeep seen in the movies, used five spoke wheels. There is one reason why this isn't a issue for me, and it has to do with the design of this casting. The back half of this casting, was designed to feature a spare wheel. The design of the spare, is the same wheel as the ones used. I will say, that it would've been cool to see a red tampo coating over the spare. However, this is a $1 Matchbox mainline after all, so it's details won't be as good as a slightly more expensive premium.

The last vehicle being featured in this post, is the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL. This casting made it's debut back in 2019, and so far has had three great releases. One of the three releases, was in a Walmart exclusive Jeep set. When it comes to the two mainline releases, I won't lie when I say that I still like the initial release that most. That's because it was finished in a green, that I'd say is based on Jeep's mojito green. For this second mainline release, the Matchbox team decided to go with metallic white for it's exterior color. Of course there's nothing wrong with white, it's just in my opinion, white seems to be one of the more common colors you see on vehicles today. This is why I like the green release more.

One thing that I like about Matchbox and their stock looking releases, is how they remain consistent with some of the features. And what I mean by that, is the tampo details as well as the wheels. Both of these aspects are the same as the first release. This ultimately makes it so someone could have a variety of  stock looking vehicles for a realistic dealership diorama. The one thing that is missing from all three releases, are front end details. Despite being great releases as a whole, I do feel that having head lights, would make this casting's releases look even better. At the end of the day though, this release is a welcomed addition to my collection.

Welp that's a wrap for mix 4. If I had to pick two favorites from this mix, I'd go with the MGB and Jurassic Park Jeep. Nothing beats a classic, and I'm happy that I got a second chance at a Jurassic Park Jeep. So racers, what was your favorite vehicle from this mix? Feel free to let me know down in the comments section. Alright that's all for this edition of Looking at. Thanks for reading, and happy diecast collecting.

Looking at: Hot Wheels Car Culture Modern Classics

Welcome back to the boulevard racers! It's once again time to take a look at another set of diecast cars, that have been checked off my want list. This time, it's the newest Car Culture Modern Classics assortment. It's nice to finally see another round of Modern Classics. Like the first Modern Classics set, this too features five great cars. One of which in my opinion, is a eyebrow raiser. So without further ado, let's get today's diecast review started.

The first car for this review, is the '72 Mercedes-Benz 280 SEL 4.5, which is also a brand new casting. One of the things that I've noticed about some of the various Car Culture cars, is how they're often times given a racing theme. This of course, isn't a bad thing, as being in the premium line, makes it so we get great looking replicas. However... I do sometimes prefer a model that's plain. And thankfully, that's the case with this debuting model. The only tampo details given to it, are ones that add realism.

It's sides, feature all the various would-be chrome features seen on the real car. And that includes door handles. Also featured along this model's sides, are tampo side marker lights. Small details like this, are always a welcomed sight. Tampo light details were applied to the front end, as well as the rear end. The rear end also has the various would-be chrome features. Features like the 280 SEL emblem, the Mercedes emblem, and the 4.5 emblem go a long way in terms of adding realism to this model. also featured on the rear, is a license plate, which further adds to the realism. From what I can tell, the plate appears to be California's black and yellow plate. And I like how it reads ''280 SEL.''

Contributing to how I feel about this release, is the interior/exterior color scheme that was chosen. Though it's hard to see in my pictures, it's exterior is a dark blue. For it's interior, the Hot Wheels design team decided to make it beige. Together, these colors created a very luxurious looking 1:64 scale model. For it's wheels, the Hot Wheels design team decided to give it the RRS wheels. I'm not entirely sure if they were trying to go for an OEM or aftermarket look with these, but what I do know, is they don't look bad on this casting.

Up next, is the eyebrow raiser. The car in question, is the Honda Civic EG. All I can say is, wait what? I was definitely not expecting Hot Wheels to release a Hello Kitty themed car. And a Hello Kitty themed Civic at that. The one thing that I can say, is that I'm happy to see this model being used again. Technically, this Civic could be considered an itasha styled car. For those of you that don't know what those are, they are basically cars that have custom designs featuring anime characters. Even though I considered this to be an eyebrow raiser, I don't mean that in a bad way. After all, models like this are unique.

Now then... since this is a Hello Kitty themed Civic, the exterior was finished in pink, which is the best possible color for this theme. Theme aside, this color is one of the reasons that I consider it to be unique. This is because it's not a color that's used often. For the design on this model, it's sides feature the top of Hello Kitty's head, as well as some Japanese text over the rear wheel well. The hood of this civic, features Hello Kitty's entire face. The top of this model, features two additional details. Hello Kitty's pink bow, was applied to the sunroof glass, and ''HELLO KITTY'' was applied to the roof. The front and rear were given the usual head/tail lights.

Since this model's exterior has a wild appearance, I do like how the Hot Wheels team decided to give this model a black interior. In my opinion, white is the only other interior color that could've worked. Although, I suspect someone out there might've preferred a pink interior. Like the first release of this casting, this too is sporting the RR6SP wheels. And once again, they are black, which isn't an issue for me. I won't lie, the Fast and Furious Civic is still better in my opinion, but that doesn't mean this isn't a nice addition to any collection.

Up next, is the '98 Subaru Impreza 22b STI-Version. As you all know, this casting made it's debut in the 2020 HW Turbo mainline set. I was actually surprised to see it already getting a premium release. Not to be a ''debbie downer,'' but I was actually a little disappointed with this release. Most of you might disagree with me, which is fine, but the main aspect that's disappointing is the choice of color. This first premium release was finished in blue. Some of you might be thinking, but Diecast BLVD, blue is your favorite color, and it's one of the better colors for this car. Yes, all of these things are true, but what I don't like, is how the first release was also blue with gold wheels. In my opinion, one of these two releases could've been yellow, purple, or black.

Despite feeling the way that I do about this release, I will admit that things aren't all bad with this release. In fact there are two main aspects that make me say that. First and foremost, being released as a premium, made it so it could feature additional details. A perfect example of this, is seen on the front bumper. Unlike the the basic version, the front bumper of this premium version features the STI decal. Another one of these details is seen on the trunk of this premium version. The right side of the trunk, features a small silver dot, which is basically the keyhole.

The second reason, has to do with the wheels featured on this release. As you all know, the blue basic version, had the Hot Wheels 10SPs finished in gold. The wheels on this release, are the Hot Wheels RRMCs, which are also finished in gold. Even though both blue versions feature gold wheels, I actually prefer these premium wheels over the basic ones. And it's simply due to the shape of the spokes.

The next car for this review, is the Volkswagen Jetta MK3. This is one casting that I'm very happy to see being used again. Initially, I thought this casting was only going to be used for the Fast and Furious set. Though the early 2000s tuning style is no more, I still really like how body kits look on cars. That is the main reason that I like this Jetta casting. This casting being a replica of the one in the Fast and Furious franchise, means that it is sporting the Wings West body kit. And despite how you might feel about cars with kits, you have to admit that the kit for this car looks great.

For those of you that aren't new to the boulevard, then you'll know the other reason as to why I'm excited to have this release. And for those of you that don't, it all has to do with the fact that this release is plain. Aside from not featuring any designs, this release has two main aspects that I like. The first of the two aspects, is of course the exterior color, which was finished in a cool looking shade of red. The wheels are the second aspect. Featured on this release, are the Hot Wheels RRE wheels. This shape of five spoke wheel, in my opinion, looks really good on this car. I also like how they are grey, even though other wheel colors could've worked as well.

Now then, this release does feature some tampo details that ultimately complement this model nicely. Aside from head lights, this model's front end features additional details like the VW emblem. The grill, as well as the various other open sections of this car's front end, were created by applying a black tampo to each of these spots. It's sides were given a black side molding and black door handles. The rear, was given tail lights, emblem details, and a license plate. All in all, this is a fantastic second release, and I like it just as much as the Fast and Furious one.

The last car from this set, is the Nissan Silvia (S14). This is another casting that made it's debut in the Fast and Furious premium set. Like the Jetta, I thought this casting was also only going to be used for Fast and Furious themed assortments. What I'm excited about, is how it looks like we'll see a continued use of this casting. One of the things that I like about this S14 release, is how it basically makes a pair with the Car Culture Street Tuners S15 Silvia. And there are a few key aspects of this model that make me say that.

The paint used for this release's exterior, is the first of those aspects. For this release, the Hot Wheels designers decided to use the same pearl white that was used for the aforementioned S15 Silvia. When I first saw pictures of this release, I though it's paint was going to be gloss white. Thankfully it wasn't. I mean... don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with gloss white, it's just this pearl white looks fantastic when a light is shined on it. At the end of the day though, I would've liked this release regardless of the type of paint. For me, it was all about finally getting a plain S14 Silvia.

The license plate featured on this release, is the next aspect. On the S15, the plate read "5TEEN." On this model, the plate reads "4TEEN." Putting the similarities aside for a moment, I want to quickly mention the other details featured on this model's front and rear. Aside from head lights, the various open sections of this car's front end were created by applying a black tampo to each spot. Featured on the hood, is the Silvia emblem. The rear end of this release, wasn't just given a license plate and tail lights. The additional details, though small, are this car's emblems. The left side of the trunk, features the Silvia's letter emblem. And in-between the tail lights, is would-be Nissan emblem. I say would-be, because "Nissan" is missing from it. Since this is one of the smaller details, I don't have a issue with it.

The wheels are the last of the similarities. Like the Car Culture S15, this too is sporting black RR6SPs. White with black aftermarket wheels, will always make a Silvia look nice, and I love how the color scheme looks on this Hot Wheels model. At the end of the day, I really like the decision to make this S14 match the S15.

Okay readers, that's all five cars from this assortment. I honestly don't have a specific favorite from this case, as they are all great additions to any collection. Though I didn't, maybe you have a favorite. If so, feel free to let me know down in the comments section. Alright that's all for this edition of Looking at. Thanks for reading, and happy diecast collecting.

White Booth Wednesday #49

It’s that day of the week again! Here’s this week’s #whiteboothwed weekly showcase!

Car: '85 Ford Bronco
Series: 2020 Hot Wheels Car Culture (Wild Terrain)
Boulevard rating: 8
What I like most: Initially, there were only two cars that I wanted from the Car Culture Wild Terrain assortment. If you're new to the boulevard, then you should know that I wrote about this in a post called Today on the Boulevard: Wild Terrain the Only Two I Wanted. On the 29th of August, I did a post talking about three Matchbox Superfast vehicles that I was able to find. One of the vehicles featured in that post, was a Crown Victoria police car. Acquiring that car, has made me want to add a few more police vehicles to my garage. That is why I ultimately decided get this highway patrol themed Bronco.

Okay readers, let me know down in the comments, what your rating for this piece would be.
As always, happy diecast collecting!

Looking at: Hot Wheels Target Flying Customs

Welcome back to the boulevard racers! It's once again time to take a look at another set of diecast cars, that have been checked off my want list. This time, it's the second assortment of the Target exclusive Flying Customs. One of the things that I like about this set, is how each car features a flashy design, which ultimately makes them great looking 1:64 scale models to have. With that said, let's jump right into today's feature.

Starting this feature off right, is the white Custom V-8 Vega. I won't lie, this is the main one that I wanted from this second assortment. And it all has to do with the stripe designs featured on it's sides. In total, there are two different designs. The main one starts after the front wheel arch, and finishes on this car's quarter panel. What I like about it, is how it features three great colors. Orange, red, and black, combined flawlessly to make a design that is straight out of the '70s. The second design, is a thin orange stripe, that starts on the front half of the fender. It then continues along the top of fender to ultimately finish on the door.

Another aspect that I like about this Vega release, is how it's Hot Ones wheels are gold. This wheel color, complements the overall theme on this model's exterior nicely. Continuing with the flashiness of this model, is the interior. For this release, Hot Wheels made the interior red. This for me, livens up this release even more. The top of this Vega doesn't feature any design, which is fine by me. I mean... it's not as if this release needed a design on it's top anyways, as the side stripes are good enough.

Up next, is the '96 Nissan 180SX Type X. After the Vega, this is the second one that I wanted the most. And no, it's not because it's a JDM. The main reason that I wanted it, was due to it's color, which is a nice metal flake purple. Before this release, there were eight other 180SX releases from Hot Wheels. One of which, was a premium. Three of those releases were black, two of them were white, the initial one as well as the Forza one was red, and the HW Race Team one was blue. If you look at these releases, you'll notice how black is currently the most used color for this casting. With that said, it's nice to see one with a color that hasn't been used before.

The HO wheels, are another reason that I wanted this 180SX. Just like the Hot Wheels DD8 wheels, there are certain Hot Wheels models, that I feel would look great with these Hot Ones wheels. And this 180SX is one of them. At the end of the day, it's nice to see newer castings with some of the older Hot Wheels wheels. For this releases interior, Hot Wheels decided to go bold by making it yellow. Though wild, this is a very good thing for this casting, especially if it's intended to be a show car.

Despite being simple, I really like the design that is featured on this 180SX. Along it's sides, are three stripes that start after the front wheel arch, and end on the door. The top strip is green, the middle one is yellow, and the bottom one is white. Another thing that I like about these side stripes, is how they aren't the same length. The green stripe is the longest, with the yellow one being nowhere near as long. The white one is ultimately the shortest of the three. Underneath the green stripe, is a yellow 180SX decal. Finishing off the sides is a green Hot Wheels decal on it's quarter panel.

The top of this release features the stripe design from it's sides. On it's hood, the stripes are done in a similar fashion to how they are done on this model's sides. In other words, the green stripe is the longest, the yellow stripe is shorter, and the white stripe is even shorter. However... there is one difference with the white stripe on it's top. Instead of just being on the hood, the white stripes continue onto this model's roof. The other two stripes are only on the hood.

The Volkswagen Caddy is up next, and it is one heck of a nice looking model. I really like the shade of green that was used for this release's exterior. I also like how it was given a yellow interior. This for me, further completes that ''Flying Customs'' look. Like the 180SX, this is another newer Hot Wheels casting that feel looks great with the older Hot Ones wheels. But these aspects aren't what I like the most. The best aspect for me, is the stripe design.

Along the top half of its sides, is a simple green design that's outlined in a dark green. As a whole, this design is separated into three sections. The first section starts just after the front fender flares, and ends before the door handle. The second section stars after the door and ends before the rear fender flare. After the rear fender flare, is where the last of the three sections is. Paced on top of this section, is a dark green Hot Wheels logo.

Along the lower half of this models sides, is the second design. This one is a simple rectangle that was placed in-between the front and rear wheel arch. This is another of of those triple colored designs that I like. This rectangle like design, features three different shades of green, and the first two lighter shades are outlined in dark green. The dark green is ultimately the third and final color in the center of the design. Completing this model off nicely, is the hood, which received the stripe theme from it's sides. The center part of the hood features the rectangle design. And next to it, are simple green stripes that are outline in dark green.

It seems like each Flying Customs assortment, will feature one Hot Wheels original casting. With the first one, it was the Audacious, which I chose not to get. With this second assortment, it is the mighty BLVD. Bruiser. To this day, this remains to be one of my favorite fantasy castings from Hot Wheels. As such, I would've gotten this release regardless of how it looked. But I must say, this release of it looks spectacular. I only wish that it had featured the Hot Ones wheels instead of the 5SPs. This casting's interior, is the only reason that I don't mind the wheel choice. The interior of this casting, features a spare wheel in the back. This wheel design is the the same as the 5SPs.

Overall, this release is sporting a racing theme, and I love how wild the design is. The side design basically created a two tone like paint job, that also has two stripes above it. The first stripe is yellow with a blue outline, and the second stripe is white with a blue outline separating it from the yellow one. The rest of the car below these stripes is dark blue. The main aspect that I like about the design, is the reverse S-curve section, that is just before the rear wheel arch. On top of this design, is a red number 20 that has two outlines. Directly outlining the numbers is a white outline, and after that, it's a dark blue outline. The sides also feature realistic looking fantasy decals, which includes a Hot Wheels logo. All of these help to complete that racing look.

Both the hood and roof of this model received tampo details. The center section of the hood, features a dark blue section, which matches the sides. The only difference being, that it isn't outlined by the stripes. Instead, the stripes are off to the sides of it. Like the sides, these hood stripes feature the S-curve as well, except they aren't reversed like the ones of the sides. Both sides of the roof were given the words ''HOT WHEELS '' in yellow, and in-between them, is the racing number. One thing that I found interesting, is how the designers changed the racing number's color to yellow. And instead of featuring two outlines, it only features one wide yellow outline. Now don't get me wrong, I have no issue with this color change.

The 2015 Ford Mustang GT is the next car from this set. Despite being released in this Flying Customs set, I really like how subtle this release is overall. Starting with the paint. this Mustang was finished in a cool grey. In my opinion, car's don't always have to have flashy colors to be cool. And personally, this grey mustang looks just as good as a blue one. Additionally, this shade of grey is a great canvas color for a design that features multiple colors, which is the case with this release.

The sides of this Mustang feature two stripes that both start after the front wheel arch, and end before the rear wheel arch. The top stripe is blue, while the lower stripe is red. Within the blue stripe, is the would-be 5.0 fender badge as well as a Hot Wheels logo. No tampos were applied to the top half of this car. I also like how it's interior is black. The only wild aspect about this release, are the gold Hot Ones wheels. This however, isn't a bad thing, since this is another newer casting with older wheels.

Okay... this next one, is absolutely fantastic! The model in question, is the '70 Ford Torino. I was happy to find out this car was getting another release. And I feel this was a great set for it to be released in. One of the reasons that I wanted this one, was due to me only have two other releases of this casting. My first one came from the 2017 Muscle Mania 5 pack, and my second one came from the 2018 Detroit Muscle Walmart set. I love every aspect about this one, and to be honest, I think this one is now my number one favorite.

The main aspect that I like about this model, is it's paint. For this '70 Torino, the Hot Wheels team decided to make it's exterior metallic copper. Blue may be my absolute favorite color, but I have to say, that copper is up there on my list. I just can't get over how beautiful this classic looks with this paint. Sadly... this release wasn't given the Hot Ones wheels. Instead, it was given the Hot Wheels 5SPs finished in gold.

Along it's sides, is a yellow, orange, and black stripe design, that is very befitting of a car like this. These colors, also make a great combination over copper. The first of the stripes, is a thin yellow one that starts on the front half of the fender and ends on the quarter panel. Sharing a similar start and stop point, is a wider yellow stripe that is underneath the thin stripe. The rest of the design starts after the front wheel arch. A wide orange stripe was applied directly underneath the yellow one, and a thin yellow stripe was placed within it. These two finish on the quarter panel. The last stripe is black, and it finishes before the rear wheel arch. Above these stripes on the quarter panel, is a orange Hot Wheels logo.

I really like how this release's hood features the theme from it's sides. The outer parts of the hood are black. The center of the hood, is where the orange and yellow stripes are. Like the sides, the first yellow stripe is thin, and the wider one is after that. Within the wide yellow stripe, is a thin orange stripe, followed by a wider orange stripe.

The second to last car, is the Mini Cooper S Challenge. I'm actually shocked that there hasn't been more releases of this casting. In my opinion, it's a fantastic casting that would be great for any racing themed assortment. The last time this casting was used before this and the 2019 Back Road Rally release, was in a 2014 multi-pack. Out of the few that I have, this is now my favorite, and it's not just because it's a Target exclusive. It mostly has to do with the overall color scheme, and the fact that it features chrome Hot Ones wheels.

The color scheme given to this Mini Cooper is yellow and blue. These two colors, when done right, will always combine flawlessly. The car itself is yellow, while the wheel arch trims are blue. It's sides feature a stripe design that utilizes three different colors. All three start on the fenders, but it's only the top one that finishes on the back half of the quarter panel. The blue used for the stripes, isn't the same shade of blue as the wheel arch trims. However... they are still great shades nonetheless.

The top stripe is the darkest of the two blues. The middle stripe is lighter, and has a outline that's the same blue as the first stripe. The last stripe is white. It too has the dark blue outline. On top of these three stripes, is a very dark blue racing number plate. It also has an outline that's the same blue as the first stripe. Two decals finish off the sides of this Mini, and they are a blue Hot Wheels logo on the doors, and a decal version of the Mini Cooper badge over the quarter panel section of the top stripe.

Both the hood and roof of this model feature design aspects. Both sides of the hood feature blue Goodyear tires decals. The racing number plate was applied to the center of the hood. The roof is where the stripes were applied. These were done in a similar style to the ones on the sides. The only difference with the roof ones, is that all three are the same length.

Depending on the collector, I could say that I saved the best for last. The '67 Chevy C10, is the last vehicle from this second assortment. I think you might already know what I like the most with this one. If not, then I'll tell you. It's blue! It's exterior was given a wonderful shade of blue, that would look nice on any model. And for it's wheels, the Hot Wheels designers decided to give it their 5SPs finished in chrome. To be honest, it would've been nice to see this casting with either the Hot Ones wheels or the Black Wall wheels. Despite this minor gripe, I still very much love this release.

I absolutely love the design featured on this C10, and the colors used for it are great as well. In my opinion, orange and yellow are two of the best colors for this retro theme. Along this C10's sides, are four different stripes. The first stripe design is orange, and it starts on the doors. It then finishes on the front half of the bedside panel. The next stripe is yellow, and it starts on the fender just before the front wheel arch. This stripe then runs underneath the orange stripe until it get to the bedside panels. From there, it curves up and over the rear wheel arch to finish on the back half of the bed side panel. It is ultimately the longest stripe along this model's sides.

The last two stripes, which are also yellow and orange, are much thinner than the first two stripes. These ones start after the front wheel arch, and then finish before the rear wheel arch. The back half of the bedside panels, feature a orange decal version of the Chevy badge, and a orange Hot Wheels logo. Only the hood of this Chevy C10 received stripes, which by all means is fine by me. Around the outer sections of the hood, is a yellow stripe done in a similar fashion to the yellow strip on it's sides. The cowl section of the hood, features a wide orange stripe. There is an additional thin orange strip that was placed around it.

At the end of the day, these Target Flying Custom assortments are becoming one of my favorite non mainline sets. I can't wait to see what the future holds for this line of Hot Wheels. If they do a third assortment of these, I would love to see a hot rod or two included. I also hope this line will contain some of the other Hot Wheels castings that don't get used much.

Okay racers, how do you feel about the Flying Customs that have been released so far? Feel free to let me know down in the comments, which one you like the most. Okay everyone, back to racing! Until next time, thanks for reading and happy collecting!
