Today on the Boulevard: Hot Wheels Motor City Muscle

Welcome diecast collectors, to another edition of Today on the Boulevard! Due to not finding the F-150, I decided to make this feature, a Today on the Boulevard. Even though I didn't find the truck, I am still very happy with the four cars that I was able to add to the boulevard. So with that said, let's jump right into today's opinion feature.

Featured first, is Fenix's '72 Ford Gran Torino. This for me, is a very beautiful Gran Torino. This Fast and furious edition, saw it's first release back in a 2015 basic Fast and Furious Walmart set. It was released as a basic again, in a 2019 Fast and Furious themed 5 pack. Sadly, I don't have any of those two releases. Fortunately, Hot Wheels decided to release a much better premium version. The added front/rear tampo details, aren't even the main reason that I consider it to be better. For me, it's all about those VN427 styled wheels. The Hot wheels RR10SP wheels, make this a perfect replica. Especially Since, the car in the movie appears to have the VN427s.

Up next, is the gold '66 Chevy Nova. In Fast Five, Dom decided that the group needed some cars to pull off a heist. This Nova was seen, when Dom and Brian arrived at a local car meet. In my opinion, it's nice to see some of the other great cars, that had minor rolls in these movies. And I love that this Nova was released in the premium line. Aside from the fact that it's from a movie, this nova is absolutely beautiful.  Like the Torino, it's all about the wheels for me. These Torq Thrust styled wheels, look great on any muscle car. And they totally give this gold Nova a flawless look. The shade of gold on this Hot Wheels release, appears to be different from the car in the movie. However, in my opinion, I think this shade looks a lot better. Revisiting the scene again, I noticed that the Nova in the Movie, didn't have side features like the V flag emblem on the fender. Despite that, I appreciate the fact that Hot Wheels decided to add it to this release.

Everybody should remember that scene in Fast & Furious, where Dom and his team, are hijacking a oil truck. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this appears to be a new Hot Wheels GNX tooling. The basic casting, doesn't have the fender louvers like this one does. Like the other cars from this set, it's the wheels that complete this replica for me. I'm so glad, that Hot Wheels decided to make the RR8DOT wheels. Having them, enabled this piece to have wheels, that look exactly like the wheels used on the GNX in the movie. The only aspect that's missing, is the General HP Tire lettering. The paint, is another thing that makes this version better. Despite me liking the metal flake black on the basic one, the car in the movie was gloss black. So long story short, this piece is closer to the real thing.

The last car being featured today, is Dom's magnificent '61 Impala. This car, was seen in the Fate of the Furious. Dom ended up giving it to his cousin Fernando, after destroying his car in a race. I absolutely love the look of this American classic. I do have the 2019 basic release of this Impala, that has the Hot Wheels OH5 wheels. However, I prefer this release with it's RR5SP wheels. This is due to how the spokes, are an exact match to the wheels seen on the Impala in the movie. This shade of red, does appear to be slightly brighter than the shade used on the Impala in the movie. But overall, that doesn't detract from how nice of a replica this is.

I just can't get over how nice looking each of these premium Fast and furious cars are. Okay, so the hunt goes on for the F-150 from this set. As usual, if I find it, I will make a post about it. So readers, do you have a favorite among these four cars? If so, feel free to let me know down in the comments. Alright, that's all for Today on the Boulevard. Happy diecast collecting!
