#1: '71 Lamborghini Miura SV - 2022 Hot Wheels Mainline
Why I Picked It: Lamborghini's older cars might not be as majestic as the ones made today, but I personally think that the styling from back then will never get old. And I absolutely love the overall design of the Miura. It truly is one of my all-time favorite cars from Lamborghini, and that's why it took the number one spot.
#2: Henry J. Gasser - 2022 Matchbox Moving Parts
Why I Picked It: This casting's first release honestly left me speechless, so I really wasn't expecting too much from a second one. However, the Matchbox team has blown me away with this release. Sure, it doesn't have a flashy design like the first one, but it does feature a real-life aftermarket company's theme. It also features multiple real-life aftermarket decals, too. Now, in case you didn't already know, I really like when diecast race cars feature all of the aforementioned. That's why I feel this release looks just as nice as the first one.
#3: Ford Custom 300 - 2022 Matchbox Mainline
Why I Picked It: I was very excited to see a new stock looking civilian 1950s Ford. So what do I mean by "civilian?" Well, there was a time where Matchbox kept making police car versions of classic American cars. Even the first two releases of the 1933 Plymouth Sedan were made to look like police cars, and it isn't even a police casting. So I'm glad they decided to go down a different road while designing this Ford. Now, I also picked this release because I like how it was finished in black. In my opinion, the color makes these old American cars look elegant. I also think it's a great color for cars with chrome exterior features.
#4: McLaren Elva - 2022 Hot Wheels Mainline
Why I Picked It: This is a very beautiful casting, and I'm extremely pleased with all of the design choices that were made for this first release of it. I especially like how they chose to give it a brown interior piece. A black exotic car with this particular interior color is not something that you see everyday on the Hot Wheels pegs. So I feel they've created a release of this casting that'll stand out for many years to come.
#5: 1966 Dodge Charger - 2022 Matchbox Mainline
Why I Picked It: I had a feeling this year's Matchbox mainline was going to be great. But they have definitely exceeded my expectations with all of the classic cars they've recently given us. And I was overcome with joy when I found out they were also going to give us this American classic too. Now, I do have one release of the first generation Dodge Charger from Hot Wheels, but this one is definitely my favorite because it's finished in orange and it has no designs on it.
#6: Dodge Sweptside Pickup - 2022 Matchbox Mainline
Why I Picked It: Pickup trucks are not always featured in a Best On The Block post, but it's not like I haven't considered picking them. It's just they are usually released alongside cars that I absolutely have to pick. So they tend to get overshadowed. But things are a little different this time around. Yes, there were many cars that I wanted to pick for the number six spot. But this release of the Dodge Sweptside Pickup was given a two-tone color scheme that features my favorite color. So even though its exterior is also white, this is basically the blue release I've been waiting for. And that's why I had to pick it over some of the other cars I considered for this post.
Okay, those are the six releases that I picked for this month's edition of Best On The Block. Now that you know my favorites, I want to know yours. So go ahead and let me know what your favorite releases were from this month.
