The latest themed series is called "Luxury Sedans," and as the name implies, it's a set that features some of today's hottest four-door vehicles. And in my area, the set was extremely popular. Usually, there was only one or two releases left, and they weren't any of the ones I wanted. Eventually, I was able to find the Cadillac CTS-V, which is one of the three I wanted to get. And now, thanks to some delicious food, I was able to finally get the other two.
The Tesla Model 3 is one of the releases I wanted, and there was only one left, which was a little shocking since there were multiple full pegs of the set. But it does seem like it was the main one everyone had their eyes on. So I guess someone must have missed this one. Anyway, there's a reason why I absolutely had to have this latest release of the Model 3, and it has nothing to do with the popularity of Tesla's vehicles. Basically, it has to do with its exterior color, which is black.
Like the other automotive manufacturers, Tesla also has a section on their website that allows customers to build their own vehicle. Once you get to that section for the model 3, you'll notice that there are five different colors to choose from. And Hot Wheels has used four of them for the mainline releases of this casting. The only color they hadn't used was black. Now, I actually have all four of the mainline releases, so that's why I felt the need to have this one too. I guess you could say that I wanted to have the whole set.
The Jaguar XE SV Project 8 is the other one I wanted, and there were plenty of them left hanging on the pegs. Now, like the Tesla, I also wanted this release because of it's exterior color.
This isn't the first orange release of this casting, but I do think it's the best one. The first one was finished in a metallic burnt orange, and I can't deny how nice that paint looks. However, it is prone to variations. Sometimes, one release will end up looking a little more orange than another one. And sadly, the debut release I got doesn't look as orange as I would have liked it to. Mine came out darker than some of the other ones that showed up weeks later. That's why I wanted to get this much brighter orange one.
I also wanted to have another example of this casting with the design from its real-life counterpart. And this one features a hood decoration that's slightly different than the one that's on the Fast and Furious release's hood. The aforementioned premium release has the "SV" circle on the hood, while this one does not.
After I grabbed what I wanted from the Luxury Sedans series, I turned my attention to the rest of the diecast row. And that's when I spotted a new box set. It was the Exotic car one, and seeing it almost made me drop the two releases I had in my hands. Yeah... I know I shouldn't have got that excited, but there's a reason why I did, and it has to do with the Koenigsegg Agera R.
I was lucky enough to order the boulevard release of the Agera R from Walmart's website, but my happiness turned to sadness when it arrived. The one they gave me was very damaged, and the plastic was more than just cracked. Now, instead of being too upset, I figured I'd just seal it up in a plastic sandwich bag instead of letting dust get all over it. At the end of the day, I was just glad to finally have the car. But I will admit that I wasn't completely satisfied because I still wanted to have one that was sealed in its original pack.
Later on, Hot Wheels released a "Gumball 3000" themed one in their Entertainment Line, and I was able to get it. But I still wasn't satisfied because it just wasn't the same as the one from the Boulevard series. That's why I was overcome with joy when I found this latest box set. In that moment, I knew I'd finally have a sealed Agrea R that I was satisfied with.
The Agera R might have been the one I wanted the most, but it's definitely not the only great release that's in this box set. Sitting next to it is one very beautiful release of the McLaren Speedtail, and I feel it's currently the best release of it. I mean, you might disagree, but the paint they used for it is something else. And in my eyes, it truly looks stunning when a light is shined on it.
The Bugatti Chiron is the only one I don't really care for. It's basically the same as the one that was released in the "Exotic Envy" Car Culture assortment. Now, this release does have different wheels, but that's not enough to make me ignore the fact that it's still black and blue. I really wish they'd give us one that's finished in a different color, but I'm starting to think they're not allowed to due to the licensing agreement.
If you read part two of my case "H" want list, then you probably remember how I said I'd post about the BMW R NineT Racer if I found it. Well, not only did I find one, I also found a second one that's not like the others. And I think you know exactly what I mean by that. This time, the error has to do with the release's wheels.
I'm actually really glad this release was initially hoarded because I would have missed this cool error had I found it when I found the other case "H" releases. Now I'm going to have a hard time trying to pick one for the boulevard's "Worldwide & Exotics" auto museum. The normal release is cool, but I kind of prefer how it looks with the black wheels.
So has a quick store run led to you finding anything good recently? Go ahead and let me know down in the comments section. Alright, that's all for this edition of Today On The Boulevard. Until next time, thanks for reading, and happy collecting.
