It's time for another edition of Today on the Boulevard! Like the last time I found some things, I once again, had to make a local store run. So after masking up, I made the undesired trip. However, it did turn into a small win for my collection. The car I was able to find, was the newest Matchbox '63 Austin Healey Roadster.
In my area, these are usually the ones that are left behind. This works in my favor, because as you know, I love classic sports cars. So far, I have all three releases of this casting. I fell in love with the color when I first saw pictures of it. But what I didn't know, was that it was actually a matte cream. After pulling it from the peg, I was honestly stunned at how awesome it looked.
Further completing the awesomeness, was Matchbox's decision to use red for the interior. I personally love the way cream colored cars look, when comined with red interiors. Now as usual with Matchbox, this casting features front/rear tampo details. And I really like the details that are featured on the front. The wheels, are another aspect that I like about this one. The OEM wheels for the real car, appear to have been wire wheels. Unlike Hot Wheels with their lace wheel, Matchbox doesn't use a basic wheel that looks like those. But that doesn't matter to me, because the wheels used for this one, have an old school look. In fact, I feel these are more appropriate looking, than the wheels used for the first two releases.
Even though I love the first two releases, I think this flat cream one, is my new number one favorite. I just can't get over how nice this piece looks, with all the aspects that I mentioned. I can't wait so see what they do next with this casting. Each release, seems to get better and better. Okay readers, what are your thoughts on this classic roadster? Feel free to let me know down in the comments. Alright, that's all for Today on the Boulevard. Happy diecast collecting!
